Today Sunday Motors is proud to feature Richard Gladys’ vehicle.
Richard writes, “This is Penny. My 1966 Volkswagen Microbus Deluxe 13-window. She received the name when I found a 1966 penny in the ash tray.”
She was given to me as a birthday present in 2022. Pulled out of a field and was sunken a good foot into the ground.
Then the project began. I had 3 months before the Lake George Nationals car show was on. The last time the vehicle was on the road was 1982, in Florida, and used at the controversial phosphate mines in Florida that were closed down.
I went through everything needed to be able to drive her safely for the parade. I literally ended up getting everything registered, working, and running the day of the show.
For anyone that goes to Lake George for the shows, it’s very likely they have seen her. She sits proud on Main Street yearly and, surprisingly, gathers crowds.”
We at Sunday Motors are not surprised Penny gathers crowds. Absolutely a cool ride.
